Eventmandu: Building A Nepal-First Events App

Eventmandu started as a simple idea: event discovery should be local-first, mobile-first, and practical for users in Nepal.

What made it interesting

• Location quality mattered more than visual polish
• Notification timing had to be useful, not noisy
• Multi-language support had to be planned early, not patched later

Technical shape

• React Native (Expo) for fast mobile iteration
• Supabase for auth, storage, and real-time data
• Google Maps integration for place-aware exploration

Biggest product insight

Users do not care about features. They care whether they can decide quickly: "Should I go to this event?" Every UX decision moved toward that question.
